’Whoopee’ – A gold bullion coin turns into a Christmas dinner!

December 13th, 2012

Our November gold bullion coin goes to Ms Susanne Stefanoni from the non-profit organisation a:primo. When we contacted Ms Stefanoni to congratulate her on her win, a prompt e-mail reply was received containing the word ‘Whoopee’. Her win was a very welcome surprise for us.

In November, we were able to translate a parents’ brochure for a:primo into Albanian, Tamil, Russian, Turkish, English, Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish and Kurdish. For this particular job, Ms Stefanoni requested a target-group-oriented translation with an emphasis on clear formulations and easily comprehensible language. You can read about how satisfied Ms Stefanoni was with our translation services in our References section.

As she was filling out our customer survey, Ms Stefanoni already knew exactly what she would do with a gold bullion coin if she won: use it to host a Christmas dinner for her work colleagues! TRANSLATION-PROBST Ltd. wishes the a:primo team a wonderful time enjoying its win.

Multilingualism: A challenge we are happy to take on.

TRANSLATION-PROBST Ltd. also sets great store by intercultural adaptation of its texts, because we are aware of the importance of translations that are adapted precisely to the linguistic usage and distinctive cultural features of your target group. When translating, the simple conversion of a text from its source language to the target language often leads to cultural misunderstandings. The NZZ article ‘Die Tücken der Vielsprachigkeit’ (The perils of multilingualism) illustrates the tremendous importance of intercultural adaptation in today’s globalised world. Using examples from the fields of religion and human rights, the article shows what can happen when translations do not take cultural differences into consideration. A cultural barrier can quickly arise from an attempted cultural dialogue as a result.

Top marks and podium places for TRANSLATION-PROBST Ltd.

Team TRANSLATION-PROBST Ltd.

The year 2011 saw the team from TRANSLATION-PROBST Ltd. in pursuit of awards and participating in a veritable gold rush. The popular „Gold coin for Facebook fans of Professor Tell“ monthly contest initiated the gold rush, keeping its fan community on tenterhooks each month.

The first award for TRANSLATION-PROBST Ltd.  arrived in the spring. Roman Probst reached the finals of the ‘Inno-Slams’ at the Tourism Pool Innovation Forum in Baden with his „Client Catcher“ partnership model. Motivated by positive feedback, the certified translation company carried out a satisfaction survey involving its 100 largest corporate clients. The results were gratifying, with a mark of 5.13 out of 6 for content, tone and style of translations as well as for their target-group affinity, precise terminology and suitability for the intended purpose.

Buoyed up by this success, TRANSLATION-PROBST Ltd. struck gold twice in the summer with Professor Tell. At SuisseEMEX’11, the largest Swiss trade fair for marketing and communication, we won the „Call for Eye-Catcher“ award, and the Professor Tell campaign made the Top 10 in the „Swiss Social Media Award“. The autumn took on a golden sheen with TRANSLATION-PROBST Ltd.’s qualification for the final round of the selection process for the federally sponsored „CTI Start-Up Label“ and expansion of the company’s corporate structure with the addition of Business Development and Sales Management departments.

While on a trekking holiday, Thomas Lengenfelder was surprised to hear of his golden win. „I’m overjoyed to have won the August gold coin from Professor Tell,” said Lengenfelder. He became acquainted with TRANSLATION-PROBST Ltd. five years ago at EMEX. At that time, Professor Tell had not yet appeared on the scene. „However, when the character was created last year, Roman Probst convinced me to become a  Facebook fan of Professor Tell,” the purchasing and office manager explained.

Lengenfelder was unable to attend EMEX’11 due to illness, but he had already met Professor Tell a year earlier at his EMEX premiere. „Professor Tell made such a positive impression on visitors that you couldn’t pass by without stopping,” Lengenfelder laughed. “And as a reliable and unerring marksman, Professor Tell is the perfect ambassador for the texts and translations from TRANSLAION-PROBST Ltd.”

The ecstatic winner already knows what he will do with his gold coin. „It’s going straight into the safe. With gold prices on the rise, this coin is going to appreciate a lot.”

Professor Tell will be giving out another gold coin in September. Become a fan of his on Facebook for your chance to win!
